January 1st 2010 circumnavigation of Alameda Island

On New Year’s Day, let’s meet either at the Emeryville marina Dock H (Catana 431) between 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. or from Marina Village (Seawind 1000, Gary Helms) for a cruise around Alameda Island either by land yacht or sea circumnavigation. To help get you out of bed, the Jitterbug crew will have HOT coffee and breakfast waiting.  The circumnavigation is essentially an open house of Alameda YC’s celebrating Alameda island hood beginning historically at Aeolian YC and proceeds clockwise to Ballena Bay all the way back to our starting point. Our 2 skippers and party boat captains, Gary Miskell and Gary Helms, will show us the wonders of the waterways around the Island. Dress warmly and bring your camera. Everyone is encouraged to take pictures and send to the webmaster for posting on the website. Rain or shine we will be cruising. Please RSVP to Bama-rsvp@sfbama.org if you would like to join the cruise, and note which starting location Emeryville or Marina Village.

Aquatic Park Crab Dinner January 16th 2010

A few years back the Cruising group started a tradition of sailing to San Francisco during Crab season, and having a great crab dinner on one of the larger cats.  Keeping with tradition we’ve schedule January 16th as our San Francisco Crab dinner feast.  To participate we sail over to Aquatic park on January 16th around 4:00pm.  Anchor (Don’t use the mooring balls), and we’ll get together on jitterbug.  We’ll have our dinghy to help pick people up and bring them over to Jitterbug. We’ll monitor channel 72 for FREE taxi service. Around 6:30pm we’ll take everyone’s orders and a small raiding party will descend upon Alioto’s outside crab cookery   http://www.aliotos.com/ and pick up our mouth watering dinner.  If the weather is good we’ll spend the night in Aquatic park, and either have breakfast on jitterbug or on shore.
